Where to Find Inspiration for your Capsule Wardrobe

Oct 27, 2021

When it comes to creating your perfect capsule wardrobe, inspiration is absolutely critical. Without inspiration, you really don’t have a starting point and your final result won’t be something you are excited about.

Therefore, the first thing you need to do when creating your Capsule Wardrobe is to be inspired.

And - it’s important to note that you must be inspired by what inspires you personally - not just what everyone else is loving at the moment. Make sure you listen to your gut during this process and only take note of elements that you truly enjoy because they spark something within you - not just because they're trendy.

Now that you understand the importance of true inspiration, it’s time for some ideas as to where you can find this critical capsule wardrobe inspiration.

P.S. When you find something that inspires you, don’t forget to record it! Write it down, pin it, save it, snap a picture… you get the idea.

WHERE TO FIND WARDROBE INSPIRATION

Movies - I recommend taking some self-care time for yourself and watching some of your favorite movies for wardrobe inspiration. I also recommend a glass of wine while you do this.

Magazines - the “old-school” way! A glass of wine also pairs very well with this activity.

Pinterest - always an excellent source, and so easy to save what you love!

Instagram - a word of warning here, though there is an endless amount of amazing fashion content on Instagram, the “comparison-game” takes hold especially fast on this platform. If you find yourself comparing yourself to images of others, it’s time to switch to another inspiration source.

Window shopping - try to hold off on buying, that step comes later :)

People watching - park yourself in a high-traffic area and just watch. If you see something inspiring, take note - I don’t recommend photographing random strangers, so maybe a notepad would be best for this activity.

Online shopping - same with window shopping, do your best to avoid making purchases just yet!

Bloggers - by simply googling “fashion bloggers” you’ll be presenting with plenty of options to browse some amazing clothing-content

Runway shows - even if you don’t get the chance to attend one of these events live, you can look them up online and have access to all types of styles gracing the runway.
